Q&A

1. Where are training and other events held?

WITNESS is a UK wide.  We run training all over the UK and may have a trainer in  your region so we can provide training wherever you are.

We also run open training courses, including at our training rooms in central London. Conferences and events are held at any suitable venue in the UK.

2. Do I qualify for a discounted rate fee?

We are usually able to offer discounts on our standard fees to organisations and service user groups with low budgets for training.  Please do contact us to discuss your needs.

3. How will I know if a course is appropriate for my needs or those of my team?

We will work with you when planning your course to ensure that it meets your specific needs.  All you have to do is to tell us about your organisation, your goals for the training and the existing level of knowledge and we will ensure that your course is pitched at the correct level. Courses are always developed in close liaison with the people commissioning them; we use a series of core sessions along with tailored or bespoke sessions. We develop new sessions as needed and aim to provide training that is geared for the needs of participants.

4. What is WITNESS?

WITNESS has changed from being a national charity to being a social enterprise.  Our core mission of promoting safe boundaries between professionals and the public remains the same. Rather than being dependent on grants WITNESS will use any surplus from sales of training and other services to subsidise our work with the public.

WITNESS provides a range of services for practitioners and the public and works to inform, educate and influence change.

WITNESS began in the late 1980s as POPAN (Prevention Of Professional Abuse Network) when a small group of people who were concerned with abuse within the talking therapies got together. During the 1990s this work expanded to include all health and social care sectors, and in 2007 expanded again to include all professional groups. WITNESS is the trading name for Professional Boundaries CIC # 07032196.

5. How is WITNESS funded?

As a social enterprise WITNESS aims to be self-funding through sales of services and products related to professional boundaries.  As well as training we take on research and consultancy contracts and provide advocacy and support work under contract.
